Night Supervision in Minnesota
Overnight assistance at home for people with assessed nighttime support needs. Explore night supervision in the Twin Cities and discuss the schedule with Clemens Health.
What is Night Supervision?
Night supervision puts a support worker in your home to help with the overnight needs identified in your support plan. Tell us when you wake, what assistance you need, and who currently helps. That conversation helps your case manager and our team work out whether the service fits, what the shift should cover, and whether awake staffing is needed. A person seeking support for themselves and a family arranging help can both start here.

Which kind of overnight help are you looking for?
- Night supervision
- Assistance with assessed overnight needs in your own home. Confirm the staffing arrangement and shift hours.
- Respite care
- Temporary care while the usual caregiver takes a break. Discuss whether the requested overnight arrangement fits.
- 24-hour emergency assistance
- On-call help for an emergency. An on-call arrangement does not mean someone is continuously in your home.
Bring a picture of what your nights are like
If you wake at 1 AM and 4 AM and need help each time, explain what the help involves and how long it usually takes. Include who currently responds and what happens if that person cannot help. If a family member is losing sleep, describe both the person's assistance needs and the effect on the caregiver.
This is a planning example, not a client story or a promised outcome.
Use the night-supervision planning checklistQuestions to bring to the conversation
- When do you wake, and what assistance do you need?
- Do you need staff awake throughout the shift?
- What handoff and backup arrangements do you need before the first night?
How to check service eligibility in Minnesota
Minnesota night supervision is available under BI, CAC, CADI, and DD waivers for assessed overnight assistance in a person's own home. It is not authorized solely as a precaution or just because a caregiver needs rest. Ask your case manager about the appropriate service for your situation.

If you are starting without one, contact your county or tribal agency about an assessment. Choosing a provider and receiving service authorization are separate steps.
